The theme for National Lutheran Schools Week, Jan. 27 – Feb. 2, 2013, is “Baptized for This Moment” based on Acts 2:38–39. This was chosen to build on the theme for the 2013 Synod convention.
St. John’s students had a wonderful, fulfilled, and encouraging week during National Lutheran Schools Week. Each morning at 8:30am students and faculty met in the church sanctuary for special school-wide devotions.
Monday, Sports Day – Students wore their favorite sports team’s fan wear and got pumped for the Pep Rally. Upper Classman Athlete Recognition honoring our 8th grade athletes took place at our home basketball game.
Tuesday, Mismatch Day – Students mismatched their wardrobe to combine stripes, plaids, and polka dots. Students had fun playing their favorite board games.
Wednesday, Grandparents’ Day – Dressed in their best, students enjoyed a breakfast in our cafeteria with grandparents’, godparents’, favorite Aunt or Uncle. After breakfast the honored guests were invited to join the students for Chapel. Our Annual Bible Bee took place immediately following Chapel. On Wednesday evening we watched students and faculty participate in a Variety Show.
Thursday, Pajama Day – Students rolled out of bed and came to school in their comfy pajamas and enjoyed movies and popcorn.
Friday, Falcon Spirit Day – This was a day to show your school spirit. Red and white was the style. School-wide class pictures and sports pictures were taken.
